This project will put effort into turning a quiet elderly home in Nepal into a hub of joy and connection! Through this project, Console Mission (CoMi) aims to pilot a playful well-being space filled with indoor and outdoor games that spark memory, movement, and laughter. By bringing life and light into daily routines, this model aims to combat loneliness and uplift spirits-setting an inspiring example for elder care across the country.
From 2010-2017, Console Mission worked with 15 elderly homes in Nepal, witnessing widespread loneliness, inactivity, and emotional neglect. In 2018, by mobilizing a psychosocial care specialist for 3 months at Himalaya Bridha Ashram, we saw how such engagement brought visible happiness to elderly residents. This project builds on that learning-reviving memory, movement, and dignity through playful spaces.
This project will create a lively playroom in one elderly home, offering indoor and outdoor games designed to enhance memory, mobility, and emotional connection. Guided by past experience and psychosocial care insights, it will provide joy, social bonding, and cognitive engagement for older adults-especially women-who often face isolation and neglect, setting a replicable model for elder care in Nepal.
This project supports SDG 3 by transforming elder care through psychosocial play. Starting with 30-40 seniors in one home, it reduces isolation, improves memory, and boosts mobility. Drawing on past work in 15 homes and a 2018 psychosocial pilot, it sets a joyful, replicable model that uplifts emotional and cognitive well-being-fostering dignity, connection, and sustained mental health in aging communities.
