For Anuradha [name changed], raising two daughters on her own meant building a life with very little. She managed the footwear at a temple gate, earning barely enough to make ends meet. The family lived in a tiny room, with scarcely enough space for the three of them to sit, let alone live comfortably. Yet, through it all, Anuradha [name changed], remained determined to give her daughters a better future.
That opportunity came through ACT.
By enrolling Jayashree [name changed] and Reva [name changed] in ACT’s education programme, Anuradha [name changed] gave her daughters more than access to schooling—she gave them the chance to imagine a different future. With ACT’s support, both girls were able to continue their education, perform well and gradually grow into confident, capable and independent young women.
The impact of that support can be seen today in the life they have built. Both sisters are now working and contributing to their family’s wellbeing. The tiny room they once called home has been replaced by a spacious rented apartment—well-furnished and equipped with the comforts and amenities that once seemed out of reach.
Their journey reflects the broader impact of ACT’s commitment to education: when children are supported to stay in school and pursue their aspirations, the benefits can reach far beyond individual achievement. Education can strengthen families, create pathways to livelihoods and help break cycles of economic hardship.
For Anuradha [name changed], the journey has come full circle. She still returns to the temple to manage the footwear, staying connected to the work that once sustained her family.
But today, her daughters’ lives tell a different story—one shaped by education, opportunity and the support that helped them turn potential into possibility.
