Life Bloom has over 18 years of experience working to support women and children in Nakuru County helping over 10,000 women through counseling and education services. In Naivasha there are a good number of care givers who work with Life Bloom on counter human trafficking and other local organizations that work within the GBV sector. This project envision to support and equip 20 care givers, provide peer learning and training, emotional support creating collective impact in the larger community.
Mental health issues are leading to depression and in other cases people committing suicide, Focusing on good mental health and wellbeing is the first step in all of our women's and girls' journeys. Unfortunately, care givers normally carry the huge burden of issues affecting the community members. Mental health is often forgotten by traditional funders and so we want to ensure community care givers have access to counseling and safer spaces for sharing and support.
We will create a pool of community-based mental health service providers among volunteers, community leaders and survivors of various forms of exploitation. In 2023 we request you to help us support women and their families into their next stages in life. We envision to expand the safe spaces by: 1. Training counseling skills to 20 caregivers 2. Economic empowerment through 5 steps training to 25 survivors of sexual exploitation in 2023
Through this project, 25 care givers working in the community in Naivasha will receive counselling services and be equipped with basic counselling skills allowing them to de brief and be able to offer psychological first aid to the community thus enabling good mental well being of community members. 25 women and girls survivors provided with 5 step training module(Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Vocational/Trade Skills, Life skills, Transformative Leadership skills) thus reducing poverty
