We are excited to share an update on our Mental Health Initiative for the students of Haiti.
In Haiti, 80% of middle and high school students never finish high school. While access to quality education is essential, we have learned that a child cannot truly learn when they are hurting. That is why Project Fleri's Mental Health Initiative funds a full-time local social worker to reach both students and their families. At $12,000 annually, this investment addresses one of the most overlooked barriers to educational success and creates the emotional foundation that makes a difference for our students.
As our organization is based in Cap-Haitien, we had the opportunity to meet Mr. Pascal, a psychologist who has been working closely with the children. We believe that having a psychologist for the children in the welcome house is extremly beneficial and necessary for their well-being and development.
Many children in our community face challenges and difficult experiences that can affect their emotional health, confidence, behyavior, and academic performance. Having access to psychological suport gives them a safe space to express their feelings, process their experiences, and develop healthy coping strategies.
Mr. Pascal has demonstrated his ability to connect with the children and work effectively with them. His positive relationship with the children and his professional skills make him an excellent partner in his work. Mr. Pascal believes that when you bring games and activities into the environment during recreation time they can relax and enjoy themselves more. This is another way that they continue to learn.
A psychologist can help children improve their emotional resilience, social skills, self-esteem, and overall mental well-being. Early psychological support also prevents future mental health difficulties and contributes to better educational outcomes and stronger communities.
Our mission is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed, not just in the classroom, but in life. Thanks to your generosity, our students are receiving the emotional support they need to heal, grow, and thrive.
Thank you for believing in our children and investing in their future. Together, we are creating opportunities that will have a lasting impact on their lives and their communities.
With gratitude,
Project Fleri
