Introduction

In our mission to enhance mental health service delivery and reduce stigma, we have launched a comprehensive anti-stigma campaign. This initiative employs various educational tools, such as brochures and posters, to raise awareness, dispel misinformation, and offer insights into common mental disorders and their management. Our ultimate goal is to empower individuals, foster a supportive environment, and encourage people to seek appropriate mental health support.

Ongoing Activities

  1. Survey

The survey and data analysis have been completed. Our preliminary analysis shows that 14.23 % of people living in informal settlement are suffering from common mental disorder.

  1. In-depth interview

To have deep understanding and information about the mental health issues in the informal settlement, we conducted in-depth interviews with the people living in informal settlement. We mostly focused on people who have had such issues in the past to have more information related to mental health. Our qualitative data shows that people living in informal settlements are aware of mental health but do not like to talk about it openly. They have been living in constant threat and pressure of forceful eviction which was having adverse effects in their mental health.

  1. Preparation of Video Narratives related to mental health.

As mentioned in our earlier report we have now prepared a narrative video showcasing the experiences of people living with mental health issues and these videos will be showcased in various informal settlement as an awareness raising activity.

  1. Photovoice

One photobook having a theme under mental health has been prepared and will be showcased at the community level.

We extend our sincere thanks for your support. Your generosity has enabled us to conduct surveys, interviews, produce narrative videos, and create photobooks, all aimed at reducing stigma and fostering support for mental health in informal settlements. Thank you so much.
