In our villages, women and girls are STILL using old rags, causing infections & disease. Besides this during their monthly cycles women are considered impure and it is for these reasons that many girls are forgoing school. Sanitary Pads & items of hygiene are equally expensive and they'd rather buy food. So by this Menstrual Hygiene day, we plan to provide 200 girls in 5 different schools with Sanitary pads, dustbins and soaps for maintaining menstrual hygiene followed by Awareness classes!
A lack of menstrual hygiene is the cause for bacterial infections and the stigma attached to it is utterly humiliating. For these reasons many girls are forgoing school during their menstrual cycle. This is degrading and constitutes a big disadvantage for them in their education. So to aware them with facilities in their schools, we plan to address these for all the girls through the Menstrual Hygiene day & onwards !
We are planning to provide Sanitary-Pads, soaps & dustbins in 5 village schools for the most underprivileged adolescents who are deprived of the same. This will happen hand in hand with a couple of sessions of awareness programs to inform about proper menstrual health, address the stigma attached to the menstrual cycle and provide counseling and empowerment. We want to make sure Menstruation is NOT a taboo, anymore!
a) The beneficiaries will have proper menstrual hygiene b) Related health hazards will be reduced c) Their confidence and self-esteem will be enhanced d) They will have regular school attendance and their performance will improve. e) They will feel dignified and empowered f) They will no longer feel embarrassed and degraded during their period g) They will have a better understanding regarding reproductive health And in turn they will empower their juniors and peers alike!
