Updates on research into veterans with melanoma

By Janine Rauscher | Director, Development Operations

The Melanoma Research Alliance and our collaborators at the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Boston and Providence, and at Massachusetts General Hospital, have finalized our veteran and civilian cohorts. Our rare melanoma cohorts of patients include 1831 acral melanoma, 603 mucosal melanoma, and 2380 uveal melanoma cases. These are the largest cohorts of rare melanoma cases ever assembled. We are finishing the analysis of risk factors for acral melanoma and will submit our first full-team manuscript this fall 2024. We will then quickly finish analysis of separate risk factors for mucosal and uveal melanomas and submit those results for publication in winter 2024-2025.
