Wildfires are displacing communities across countries including Algeria, Greece, Italy, and Tunisia. Thousands of firefighters are battling these devastating fires which have been fueled by scorching temperatures and strong winds. The fires have killed dozens of people, especially in Algeria. Thousands of families have been evacuated. Your donation to the Mediterranean Wildfire Relief Fund will support emergency response and long-term recovery efforts in the most affected countries.
Wildfires are burning across countries like Algeria, Greece, Italy, and Tunisia. Dozens of people have been killed, thousands of families have been displaced, and homes and businesses are at risk. People from low-income, rural, and marginalized communities have less access to support and bear the brunt of the long-term impact of fires like these.
All donations to this fund will support wildfire relief and recovery efforts in all affected countries around the Mediterranean. Initially, the fund helps first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, medicine, and shelter. As needs emerge, we will support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted organizations in impacted areas, particularly those working with low-income, historically underserved communities.

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.
We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.
They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
