In the beginning of 2016 our Fund published appeal to the main Ukrainian state authorities.
Since our public appeal to the President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman a little has changed:
+ International procurement of drugs for children with cancer still linger. As a result, by Monday, May 16 less than 10 positions from about 170 positions, approved nomenclature, will be delivered to the hospitals. That means the state provided less than 10% of the drugs, reagents and consumables.
+ Tabletochki (PILLS) Foundation has already spent almost 6 million UAH ($400K) for the purchase of drugs. While last year's fund expenses on drugs were less than $250K. This means that the fund took over the function of the state in an emergency mode, trying to ensure that hospitals have all of the most essential medicines, so that children do not interrupt their treatment. The Fund does not want to perform the function of the state. However, unlike those responsible for the state drug procurement, we understand that interruption of cancer treatment protocols in most cases means certain death for the patient. The price is too high.
+ We got the most up-to-date report about the medicines in stock from the biggest national hospital Okhmatdyt and the request for the following most urgent medicines:
- Alexan - 180 packages for the amount of 121 000 UAH;
- Avelox - 290 p. - 247 448 UAH
- Adriblastin - 75 p. - 95 958 UAH
- ASD-a - 300 p. - 38 691 UAH
- Vfend - 43 p. - 905 861 UAH
- Vincristine - 82 p. - 8660 UAH
- Geptral - 132 p. - 122 195 UAH
- Imatinib - 61 p. - 441 742 UAH
- Exjade - 8 p. - 176 425 UAH
- Colomycin - 415 p. - 162 895 UAH
- CellCept - 5 p. - 7366 UAH
- Ekvoral - 10 p. - 9250 UAH
- Cytosar - 370 p. - 244 982 UAH
- Osetron - 416 p. - 60 936 UAH
All of the above costs more than 2.8 million UAH and it is only the most urgent need for just one hospital for the next 2 months. Additionally Okhmatdyt need a few dozen drugs (such as Granocyte, Zopercin, Mikomin, Orungal, Sandimun, Dalacin, Neupogen and others) in the amount of approximately 1.5 million UAH, the purchase of which will become the responsibility of parents.
+ On May, the 18th Ukrainian MPs will put on T-shirts of Tabletochki fund to support children with cancer and will ask the Prime Minister questions on state medications procurment process
+ In addition, we have prepared a request for charitable assistance to all MPs and members of the Cabinet, because the ordinary Ukrainians are tired of solving problems of the country with their own hands, and officials need to understand and be aware of all the responsibility of their actions or inactions.
+ We also ask you to support our children.
