Today, the world is facing a demographic tragedy. For the first time in history, those over 65 outnumber those under 5. The closure of maternity wards and schools is commonplace.
Birth rates around the world have hit rock bottom. In Argentina, they have dropped by 41% over the last 10 years.
The effects of this will not only begin to be felt through the aging population, but also through the problems with pension systems and the rising cost of healthcare.
However, at Mater Dei, we continue to be committed to life.
Therefore, contrary to all trends, but consistent with our mission, we decided to completely renovate the Maternity Ward to provide greater convenience and comfort for families, combined with the support and excellence of our team. Because for us, Love is Service.
The new Maternity Ward has progressed, with slight delays from the original deadlines, but we have completed the first phase that began in January.
And an important fact: despite the construction work and the inconvenience it may have caused, in these three months we assisted at 487 births. Only 17 fewer than last year.
Seven months ago, we proposed raising funds to modernize the sanatorium's maternity ward. Today, with the funds raised thanks to each and every one of you, we are completing the first phase of the project.
Without each and every one of you, it wouldn't be possible. THANK YOU!
