Summary

Wheel to Walk Foundation purchases medical equipment for children with disabilities when they are unable to obtain the necessary equipment through their insurance company. We purchase therapy tricycles, gait trainers, adaptive strollers, wheelchairs, mobility scooters, bath chairs, patient lifts and communication devices. We are a direct service organization helping families individually.

Challenge

Families with special needs children are denied funding from insurance for essential equipment to help their children thrive. A simple apparatus like a therapy tricycle can produce numerous positive effects for a child born with cerebral palsy. Therapy tricycles help develop muscle mass, provide exercise, increase gait stability and allows them the opportunity to ride along with their peers. Numerous times we hear from a parent that their child can 'now ride like other children.'

Solution

Wheel to Walk Foundation will work directly with families who need equipment for their special needs child. We will purchase medical equipment that is not covered by insurance.

Long-Term Impact

This project will provide 70 children the necessary equipment to help them thrive and be the best of themselves. The impact will ease families from the burden of having to pay out of pocket for the necessary equipment for their children and eliminates them from having to go without. Providing equipment assists the child to have a more mainstream life and opportunities to thrive.
