End of lockdown and start of Covid-19 vaccination

Dear friend,

We are happy to announce that Covid-19 vaccination campaign has finally started in Lebanon and we are feeling hopeful! We know that it will not solve all the problems the country is facing but at least businesses can open again and those people who still have a job can go back to work. In principle, the vaccination is open for everyone residing in Lebanon. However, in order to get vaccinated the person needs to be registered on a government owned website (https://covax.moph.gov.lb). This puts a lot of people with no legal status in Lebanon, among whom many Insan’s beneficiaries, in a difficult position. If they sign up, they risk being evicted from the country. If they don't sign up, they risk being infected to Covid-19.

While Insan cannot help them much with the vaccinations, we can help them with treating other illnesses they are suffering from. Moreover, as they face challenges with getting vaccinated, they need even more health support from us in order to stay healthy. In the past four months we have continued our activities in the refugee camps in Bekaa: distributing needed medications, providing psychosocial support and referring people to dispensaries and hospitals for medications or further treatment.

Very soon our mobile health unit will also be up and running and visiting vulnerable communities (Lebanese, refugees, migrant workers etc.) in different areas in Lebanon. At this mobile unit we will also be able to conduct medical check-ups and provide medications.

Thank you for supporting us and the vulnerable communities in Lebanon.

Best regards,

The INSAN-team
