The project is a rapid-response effort providing medical aid and essential support to displaced Sudanese refugees who have fled to Chad. Founded in 2024, we started as a mutual aid project to provide essential support such as housing, food, medical care, and medication to hundreds of families. The project team is committed to promote resilience and dignity while providing a measure of stability during an unfathomably difficult time as we provide medical services for 75 patients per day.
As of December 2024, over 262,900 Sudanese refugees have fled to Adre camp according to the UNHCR latest reports, having faced enormous and life threatening hardships. This project is part of a series of projects recommended to cover the needs identified on UNHCR health assessment. Evidence show significant barriers experienced by refugees to finding appropriate health facilities that enables them to overcome hardships, move on with their lives, integrate into society and avoid destitution.
Working with local suppliers, partners, and leveraging our network, we provide access to a medical field clinic working 5 days a week to serve the refugees at the camp; we have an emergency room, small surgery room, general doctor, laboratory, pharmacy, Obstetrics and gynecology. With the support of several partners, we are able to address the urgent medical needs of 150,000 Sudanese refugees in Adre camp, however the clinic lacks essential resources, including electricity and equipment.
Reduction of maternal and infant mortality rates among displaced population. Reduction of oral and eye health deterioration. Reduction of malnourished children under the age of 5. Improvement to prenatal and postnatal care for expectant and existing mothers. Access to clean water and ongoing hygiene and health education and support. By addressing immediate health needs and offering pathways to self-sufficiency, we aim to restore agency to Sudanese refugees in Adre Camp
