Dear Donors,
We sincerely thank you for your generous support toward the Mechimo and Theresa Memorial Midwife Scholarship project. Your contributions are truly appreciated and bring hope to underserved communities facing shortages of skilled maternal healthcare workers.
The support received so far is encouraging. However, the donations available are still not enough to kickstart the first phase of the scholarship program yet, and more support is needed.
Many rural communities in Nigeria continue to face serious shortages of trained midwives, leaving pregnant women without skilled care during childbirth. This contributes to preventable maternal and newborn deaths, especially in underserved areas where healthcare workers are limited.
This scholarship project was created in memory of Mechimo Josephine and Theresa, two sisters who died on the same day due to lack of expert maternal care. The project aims to fully sponsor women from rural and underserved communities to study midwifery and return to serve areas where maternal care is urgently needed.
The program will cover tuition, clinical training, learning materials, and licensing support for selected students preparing for careers in maternal and neonatal healthcare.
With additional support, the first phase of the scholarship program can begin and help increase the number of skilled midwives serving vulnerable communities across Nigeria.
We remain deeply grateful for the support received so far and hopeful that more contributions will help bring this vision to life.
Thank you for your kindness and continued support.
Sincerely,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
