Proper diet is essential for a healthier life; there are many families living in this country that cannot provide proper food to their children or to themselves.
Countless children across Pakistan are affected by different diseases due to poor nutrition or non availability of food every year. Childhood is an age when every part of the body needs to be nourished for a better tomorrow both mentally and physically.
However, lack of nutrition and poor diet can cause low IQ, stunted growth and mental disorders.
The World Health Organization through the Millennium Development Goal 4 has recognized that improved nutrition is crucial in reducing the under-5-years mortality, especially in the developing countries. In Pakistan, 33.03% (CI= 27.96-38.54) of children under the age of 5 are underweight, 53.38% of the children are stunted and wasting has been reported in 11.52% of the children, which clearly shows that the nutritional status in this country is poor. NUR Foundation and Fatima Memorial Hospital started providing food to all 1850 students studying in NUR Foundation Schools. These children are from underprivileged areas and their families can’t even provide them one meal a day due to financial constraints.
NUR Food bank wants to provide the food to all its children on daily basis. But due to financial constraints and poor economic conditions it is very difficult for us to manage all this on daily basis. We need your support to continue to provide healthy food to all children on daily basis.
