Mehrun, a 44-year-old housewife, resides in Topsia beside the canalside sewage. She has been living in this area for more than 40 years since her marriage to Feku, who is 68 years old. Unfortunately, Feku’s advanced age and poor health have significantly impacted his ability to work efficiently. Although he works as a rickshaw puller, his earnings are very low, sometimes as little as 100-150 rupees (US$ 1.17 to US$ 1.75) a day. Mehrun herself struggles with mental health issues, which prevent her from seeking work outside of the home.
Tragedy struck the family when their 17-year-old son passed away after an unfortunate accident at home. This loss has left the family devastated, and since their son was the sole breadwinner, his death has pushed them into a very vulnerable situation. With no stable source of income and both parents facing significant challenges, Mehrun and her family have been frequently supported by Tiljala Shed with emergency food, as well as other essential things.
However, their situation remains dire, and continued support is essential to help them through this incredibly difficult time.
This project ensures timely food and medical support for families like them.
