At Cojolya, we believe that education goes beyond the classroom. That is why we accompany each of the children in the program with close and personalized attention, adapting to their needs and rhythms. From providing school counseling to facilitating access to computers for homework, our goal is to make them feel supported, safe and motivated to continue learning.
This accompaniment is constant and adjusts to the stage of each student. Some students are just beginning their educational journey, facing their first challenges in reading, writing or mathematics; others have already advanced and are looking to reinforce what they have learned or resolve specific doubts. We are proud to see how they grow, not only in knowledge, but also in self-esteem, autonomy and well-being.
One story that reflects this commitment is that of a young student whose mother is a weaver in Cojolya. In the beginning, she would occasionally come with her to the association, especially on days when school was not in session. She was shy, like any child beginning to explore the world of school, and had doubts about basic subjects such as vowels, numbers and reading. Her mother, seeing this need, gave her the confidence to approach our team.
Since then, she started coming in the afternoons after school. While her mother worked, she used the time for didactic activities and exercises to reinforce what she was learning in class. Soon, she began to get excited every time she came to the association, knowing that here she not only found help with her homework, but also a safe space to learn while playing, and to feel listened to.
A detail that filled us with tenderness and pride was when her mother shared with us that her daughter always says with joy: “Let's go to our work”. This phrase does not mean an obligation or responsibility, but the affection of a child who sees Cojolya as a place where her mother is happy and where she also feels part of something important. It is an expression of belonging and trust that comes from the emotional bond she has built with the team and the space.
These experiences reaffirm that when we provide a dignified, respectful and loving environment, learning comes with greater strength. And thanks to the support of each donor who believes in this mission, we can continue to accompany with empathy and commitment those who will be the future generations of our people.
