Thanks for having made the Cattle Camp possible !!

On behalf of Mann Deshi Foundation, Mhaswad (Taluka Mann,), I would be grateful you for your drought relief support to the cattle camp program.

Mann Deshi started cattle camp on 21^st April, 2012. Farmers had no option but to sell off their valuable assets animal because lack of fodder and water. Mann taluka have not received rainfall from last 36 months. At its highest level, in September-October 2012, there were up to 15,000 animals in the Camp. 6,000 families from more than 50 villages from the drought-prone area of Mann Taluka have benefited from the Camp. There, Mann Deshi provides fodder, cattle feed and water. The state finances the fodder, but not the water which is the most expensive. The cattle camp hosted the celebrations for several festivals: Bendur, Nag Panchi, Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, and Independence Day.

15,000 animals were saved from slaughterhouse.
Mann Deshi started the construction of Nala Bandharas as a long term solution to conserve rain water.
The Bandhara is constructed on the site where farmers from these villages will get benefit. The Catchment area of each Bandhara is around 5 Sq. Mile & Mann Deshi is constructing 3 Bandaharas.

Indeed, the drought is since 2011, Mann Deshi wants to provide solution not just relief. And Cattle Camp is a relief and not a solution. The solution is to conserve the rain water. Mann Deshi has started the conservation of rain water through the rejuvenation and construction of new Nala Bandharas. We have already rejuvenated 12 existing Percolation tank. This will recharge the water level in the area and will also help to solve the drinking water problem. And recharging of water level can also use for farming.

Currently, Cattle Camp has 5000 animals. This year, though it is September 2013, still no rain and it seems that this year will also go without rain. Once again, we would like to thank you for your financial support in this program and for making all this possible,

Dear Mann Deshi Foundation Supporters,

One year is over around 1300 families have been residing at cattle camp, Mhaswad. Mann Taluka is witnessing unprecedented drought. Due to the non-availability of fodder and water, the number of animals dead is unprecedented and has to be sold cheaply to butchers. Now its 3^rd year, there has been no rain in Mann Taluka. Today, people are migrating from Mann Taluka, not in search of employment but in search of drinking water.

In order to help, Mann Deshi also felt the responsibility to serve the local community and started a Cattle camp - providing water and fodder to animals - in the Mhaswad village on 21^st April, 2012. The Mann Deshi Foundation cattle camp has supported +14,000 animals from 52 villages till October, 2012. Mann Deshi has provided 400,000 liter water per day and paid around 900,000RS daily for fodder, cattle feed and water etc. Currently, Mann Deshi cattle camp has 5000 animals with 1300 families and providing water & fodder to animals. Government pays Rs.60 per animal for fodder but water cost is not covered by Government.

Nearly, one year is over around 1300 families have been residing at cattle camp, Mhaswad. Farmers in Mann Taluka do not have any work for last one year no agriculture, no wages. NREGA work has scattered which is started by government. Payment of NREGA is not done for months so farmers do not want to go and work with NREGA. Some of farmers have been able to get the job at Mann Deshi Nala Bandhara but most of them are jobless. Also most of the farmers have migrated, only the families whose child goes to school are not migrated. In such a worse condition it has been impossible to survive. Mann Deshi has decided to provide food grains to farmers so that they can survive.

Dear Mann Deshi Supporters,

Mann Taluka is witnessing unprecedented drought. Due to the non-availability of fodder and water, the number of animals dead is unprecedented and has to be sold cheaply to butchers. Now its 3^rd years, there has been no rain in Mann Taluka. Today, people are migrating from Mann Taluka, not in search of employment but in search of drinking water.

In order to help, Mann Deshi also felt the responsibility to serve the local community and started a Cattle camp - providing water and fodder to animals - in the Mhaswad village on 21^st April, 2012. The Mann Deshi Foundation cattle camp supported +13,000 animals from 52 villages. Mann Deshi provided 400,000 liter water per day and paid around 900,000RS daily for fodder, cattle feed and water etc. Currently, Mann Deshi cattle camp has 3800 animals with 300 families and providing water & fodder to animals.

Mann Deshi strongly feels to resolve our problem of water in Mann Taluka. In 2012-13, Mann Deshi Foundation rejuvenated existing 12 Bandharas by removing dirt with the cooperation of respected collector, Satara. This has resulted to store at least little water in the Bandharas. Mann Deshi Foundation has started constructing cement concrete bandharas through a chain system for drinking water in Mhaswad. It will recharge the water level in area and also solve the drinking water problem. Mann Deshi is trying to find long term solution for drinking water.

Necessary to construct the small Nala Bandaras which can conserve Rain Water:

Nala Bandara will be of Cement Concrete
Each Bandara will cost Rs.35 lacs
Per location require 5 bandara (Virkarwadi, Shirtav, Bangarwadi, Gangoti)

The minimum size of nala bandara is :

Width : 103 meter
Depth : 3.5 meter
Length: Around 57 meter
