Project Report | Dec 19, 2016
MAHAN Trust Report December 2016

By Dr. Ashish Satav | Founder Director-MAHAN Trust

Report stating the activites carried out in last quarter, impact and success stories is attached. Its all due to well wishers like you, we could carry out this mammoth work and save many precious life, reduce malnutrition significantly.

Success Story - ‘How a child was saved’

A 20 months old baby Resident of village ‘Hirabambai’ had severe Pneumonia with respiratory distress. Due to ignorance, unawareness, lack of money, Parents were reluctant to go to any hospital and were going to traditional ‘Faith Healer’ which is common in this area.  MAHAN village health worker informed this to our hospital. Our team rushed to Hirabambai with our ambulance, counselled & convinced the family, which is not so easy task. Ultimately family members agreed to admit baby into hospital. The baby was treated in our hospital and now is normal. This way one life is saved. This can be normal or not so special case in cities or places equipped with medical facilities. However considering the canvas of ‘Melghat’, this is really an achievement.

  • Under SAMAAN project in last quarter we treated 115 severely malnourished children and the recovery rate is >50%
  • Child deaths reduced in intervention area by 67% compare to baseline.
  • Adult death reduced in intervention area by >50% compare to baseline.
