Stories from Malaika: Three new children

By Giulia Leone | Project Leader

In recent months, the Malaika Family has experienced the joy of welcoming three new children into our care.

Two siblings, a girl (2 years old) and her brother (4 years old),  belonging to the Maasai community, joined the Malaika Family a few months ago. Initially, they communicated exclusively in their native Maasai language. Fortunately, one of our housemothers is fluent in Maasai, facilitating effective communication and helping the children adjust. They have already begun learning Swahili, which is a significant step towards their integration into our multicultural environment.  Upon their arrival, both children were undernourished, but with our dedicated care and nutrition, they have made significant progress in their health and well-being. The existing children at Malaika have warmly embraced them, extending their help and support, which has contributed to a smooth transition for the newcomers.
We are already looking for a kindergarten for the boy, and we are planning his enrollment in January with all other children.

The third child is almost one year old, and he arrived at Malaika in August. We are taking good care of him and doing all the necessary health checks.

The addition of these three precious children to the Malaika Family is a testament to our ongoing commitment to providing a loving and supportive home for vulnerable children. We are dedicated to ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational needs are met as they continue their journey towards a brighter future within our caring community.

We look forward to witnessing their growth and development as they become active members of the Malaika Family. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our staff, housemothers, and existing children for their warm welcome and support during this transitional period. Together, we remain committed to providing a nurturing and empowering environment for every child under our care.
