I wanted to say thank you for your generous donation. its kind hearted people like you who ensure that we can carry on providing magical moments for our dreamers.

I am delighted to be writing back to you, to let you know the impact that your donation has made. Reach For A Dream core focus of fulfilling dreams of children who are fighting life threatening illnesses. Your generous contribution has allowed us to touch more lives and fulfil more dreams. I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all your support.

We have been able to fulfil 6 dreams a day and over the last year alone we were able to fulfil 1666 dreams for 2019, we could not have done this without your support. Our dreams have a number of categories that make it possible for us to fulfil each child’s dream no matter how big or small the dream is; we go through great lengths to make this dream a reality.

I am also excited to let you know we have national Slipper day coming up on the 8th May. For many children who are fighting life threatening illnesses they spend most of their time in hospitals, where they wear pyjamas and slippers. To raise awareness and to stand in solidarity with them we encourage you, your family, friends and colleagues to join us and wear Slippers on the 8th May to help us raise awareness and give children hope, strength and courage.

I wanted to take a moment to share with you the 2 Dreams that we recently fulfilled.

Ndumiso (5) from Pretoria (Read more below)

Ndumiso had the time of his life playing at the Fun Room. He enjoyed all the activities from the trampoline to the slide and the giant ball pit. The highlight of his day, was when he received his dream, a Bubblegum tablet, complete with matching headphones. He smiled so brightly and instantly put the headphones on and started playing games. It was such a fantastic day for him.

Lufefe (12) from East London is all about giving a helping hand to the needy. (Read more below)

She loves people and recently joined a group called Soul Buddyz who are involved in cleaning, helping children who are orphans and making a difference in their community. She is full of life and one day would love to be a pilot. Her ultimate dream was to have her own laptop so that she can improve her maths skills online. She could not contain herself when she finally received her laptop. Lufefe was in total awe!

Thank you for making all these dreams come true, we could have not done this without your support. I look forward to writing to you again to share more stories about the difference you making.

Don’t forget to wear your slippers on the 8th May

Our little dreamer Cali lives in Bloemfontein. When we asked her what her dream was - she said she wanted to see a unicorn in real life. Cali dreamed of riding a unicorn for her 5th birthday. We made Cali's dream come true by taking her on a real unicorn ride. She couldn't believe her eyes when she saw her dream unicorn! We wanted Cali to believe in the power of a dream. We have no doubt that she is inspired and hopeful for her future. No matter the child's dream we strive to make sure that each child's dream can become a reality. Thank you for making the dream post through your funding.

Making Dreams Come True

Childhood should be the most magical phase of one's life. For children who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, the magic is easily lost. Reach For A Dream tries to alleviate some of the emotional, physical and financial strain of dealing with a life-threatening illness by creating magical moments that last a lifetime. Some of the health concerns we deal with range from leukemia, cystic fibrosis, and muscular dystrophy to HIV, kidney failure and blood disorders. Below are some magical dream we were able to fulfil.

BLOEMFONTEIN DREAM:

Melanie (4) from Northern Cape, dreamt of having baby dolls that she could ‘look after’. Seeing her gifts, literally made her jump for joy. Once her dolls were unwrapped she didn’t want to do anything else but kiss and talk to her ‘baby’. She was one happy young lady .It is moments like these that show how special and fulfilling the work is that we do.

KZN DREAM:

Given from Durban, had his dream fulfilled while he was in hospital. Given’s dream was to receive a laptop, and the fulfillment of this dream was made very exciting for Given as it also involved his passion for culinary skills. A cake-decorating bake-off was arranged with his doctor, Dr. Gouden. The winner was to receive a ‘mystery prize’. To Given’s delight and surprise he won the bake-off, and was beyond excited to discover that the mystery prize was a laptop. It was smiles all round.

JHB DREAM:

Dylan (17) always dreamt of having a high-tech themed room. With a lot of secrecy and hard work from our Johannesburg dream team we were able to make Dylan’s dream come true. Dylan’s mom Ruth, made sure she kept him out of the house for three days, during the makeover. When Dylan arrived home from school and saw the transformation of his room he was totally surprised. This special handover, was made extra special as it was also Dylan’s birthday, that day.

Thank you for being a part of our journey.
