A new 75 horsepower machine (5)

Since March 10, our country has been experiencing difficult moments from the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, the government has declared a state of emergency, which is still in force today. This state of emergency is characterized by the closings of schools, cults, markets; air traffic, sporting and cultural events and gatherings of more than 20 people are prohibited; land and sea transport are extremely limited.

In fact, our country now has 7,039 confirmed pandemic cases, 1,426 healings and 170 deaths. 14 out of 26 provinces are affected, including our province, South Kivu, which has 247 confirmed cases, 112 cured and 39 deaths.

Like all schools, our School, Glenn Paige Nonkilling School, is closed until further notice. The people of Kazimia are confined to their own village with very limited movement and circulation. Our boat (wooden) cannot sail without special authorization, cannot transport people and cannot go to Burundi or Tanzania. We are in a period without activities and without financial resources.

However, our project which consists in equipping our boat with a powerful, new and adapted 75 horsepower outboard machine is active. Our old Yamaha 55 horsepower machine is now out of the race because it is worn and has several defective parts.

We ask our donors to continue to honor us with their generous donations so that we can make our boat profitable by purchasing a powerful and new engine (75 horsepower) and thus acquire financial autonomy of our School.

May God protect us all
