The new academic year began in June, and for the 100 girls in our care, it brought a fresh start. After their summer break, the girls returned to school ready to learn, grow and take another step towards a better future.
From June to September 2026, we continued supporting the girls with their education, daily needs and overall well-being. During this period, we received USD 96.78 through GlobalGiving. Every contribution has helped us continue providing the support these girls need to stay in school and keep moving forward.
Many of the girls come from marginalised communities, single-parent families and other difficult circumstances. Some are at risk of child labour or early marriage. For them, staying in school can make a lasting difference. It allows them to learn, develop skills and build confidence for the future.
The girls received support for essential educational needs such as school fees, uniforms, school bags, notebooks and other learning materials. These may be basic requirements, but having them can make it easier for them to attend school regularly and participate with confidence.
Girls who have experienced gaps in their education continue to benefit from bridge education programmes. These programmes help them prepare for and return to mainstream schooling. They also receive academic guidance, life skills training and emotional support to help them adjust and progress in school.
At our care homes and partner centres, the girls continue to receive nutritious meals and basic healthcare support, helping them stay healthy and focused on their studies. They also take part in activities that help them develop communication skills, confidence and positive relationships with others. These experiences help them grow not only as students, but also as young individuals who can make choices about their future.
The BREADS team and Don Bosco partner centres remain closely involved in the girls' progress. Regular contact with the girls, their families and teachers helps us understand their needs and provide support when challenges arise.
For these 100 girls, progress happens one step at a time. A school bag, a set of notebooks, a nutritious meal, extra academic support or someone encouraging them to continue can all play a part in helping a girl remain in school.
As the academic year continues, the girls are moving forward with hope and determination. Your support helps make that journey possible—giving these girls the chance to stay in school, build their confidence and look towards a future with more opportunities.
On behalf of the 100 girls, BREADS and our Don Bosco partners, thank you for standing with them and being part of their journey.
