The majority of the people believe that education is an approach to the construction of learning based on objects and projects. The contents of the learning of one or more subjects, are built in the mind of learning through experimentation and play with materials and tools. This approach seeks to create meaningful personal activities, which express artistic visions, using technology and applying scientific concepts.
The Maker is a person who work on materials with tools and machinery, so at the Fundacion Proacceso, through the MakersLab we try to encourage the use of different materials with which we can find different solutions to solve problems. Once we know different materials, we must learn and acquire the ability to modify them to the required convenience in an appropriate manner.
The main skills that make them develop are: crafts, textiles, carpentry, electronics, development cards and / or automation, 2D design, 3D modeling and both manual and digital manufacturing, likewise, they are expected to share their work done with community. The first MakerLab gives a second chance to any person, regardless of their grade level or age, to contribute to the world in order to improve lives.
In Mexico, the generation of opportunities is a “most” among NGOs, Schools, government, and any other actor who tries to change the reality of those less fortunate. According to Manpower, in a study for Latin America and the Caribbean, it was discovered that 40% of employers have difficulties to fill positions, being the most difficult to occupy those associated with STEM disciplines (for its acronym in English Science, Techonology, Engineering , Mathematics).
In the case of Mexico, the story is not different, where the technical workforce associated with technology is the profile of greatest scarcity. And although it is not that all children end up studying a career related to technology and science, it is believed that enhancing this type of skills is crucial for them to be able to function as productive professionals with basic literacy skills to enhance their innovation capacity in their own country. This kind of social projects helps to reduce the migration population to other places, this is why your help is so important.
