For 17-year-old Lizz, her wish to go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in California not only fulfilled her dream to be a marine biologist, it reminded her of the importance of family. As a child suffering from a blood disorder, she and her mom spent a lot of time at the hospital while her dad took care of her sisters at home. “The wish was a good way to get the family all together,” she said. While on the trip, the family got to kayak, explore ocean life together and just relax. Lizz said that she got through her illness and her bone marrow transplant with the support of her family, and that the wish experience “was a way to celebrate the journey.”
Thank you for supporting wish kids like Lizz, and for helping share the power of a wish® with every eligible child in our region.
