Summary

SOS Children's Village Macedonia plans to create "Home Educational corners" to enable 150 children to attend classes from home due to COVID 19. Coming from the poorest families, not having basic conditions for home education we will provide them with study desks, chairs, educational materials, and internet & educational support services for one year. This project will prevent these children from leaving the educational process and prevent them from living by the rules of the "street".

Challenge

Due to the fact that many poor children are out of the educational system, the majority of them are" living" on the streets, begging and take the way of crime. COVID 19 has affected the hardest extend the poorest families; many parents have lost their jobs and are struggling to provide the basics needs - food and hygienic products. Schooling has a very low priority, so the probability that even those who are attending the school will stop is very high!

Solution

SOS Children's Village Macedonia with this project will secure 150 children to continue their education by creating "Home Educational Corners" in their homes (75 families). We will make the space for studying, provide 1-year internet to follow classes, provide necessary books and give 1-year support with 4 educational experts to get needed knowledge. The main benefit is that all the children in the family who are in different levels of educational process can use the utilities and services.

Long-Term Impact

Schooling is a way to ensure a better future, by supporting the education of 150 poor children in these uncertain times, we are preventing them from leaving the school system, more likely to get them off of their parents' path of insecurity and poverty. 150 children will remain 150 pupils, so tomorrow they can become 150 citizens able to contribute for themselves and society.
