Thank you for your support for our Project to make Christmas special for children living on the streets in the DRC. Kimbilio tries to ensure that these children do not miss out at Christmas.
This year as usual, we provided Christmas lunches and games at the Day Centre, which were very popular with the children. Those children staying in the Kimbilio houses got in the festive mood by dressing up for their Christmas lunch and the Kimbilio School had its very own Christmas tree in the playground. It is so lovely to see the joy that all this brings to these children, mamy of whom will be spending their first Christmas away from their family.
Thank you for your donations that have enabled Kimbilio to make Christmas special for street children in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo. It is a particularly difficult time for street children as this is when they feel the absence of their family the most, so Kimbilio acts as their family.
We like to hold celebrations for the children that come to the Day Centre, those that live in the Kimbilio houses and those who attend the Kimbilio Junior School. It is a lot of children but we wish them to feel loved and special at this time of year.
This year, Kimbilio is facing a cash flow challenge due to the devaluation of the pound so your donation is even more important to us.
Dear supporter,
Christmas is a time when we can show the street children that they are loved and that they are special, so Kimbilio will again be appealing to supporters this coming Christmas for funds to purchase gifts for the children. These children have very little in the way of material possessions so a Christmas gift is truly valued.
Kimbilio also puts on a special Christmas party with food and games for the children, and it is heart-warmimng to see the joy on their faces at this time.
So thank you for your support last Christmas and we would really appreciate your continiuing support this coming Christmas. It will be here sooner than you think!
This year we were able to make Christmas special for the street children of Lubumbashi. At the Day Centre in the middle of the city and at the four homes that we run, we provided special food and drinks and played games with the children. The Congolese love their music and it was great to see the children (and the Kimbilio staff) dancing and enjoying the music. The happiness on the children's faces was so heartening to behold given the hard times so many of them had endured in their short lives.
We were also able to provide special treats and activities for those children at the new Kimbilio Junior School at the end of their first term.
