We had an exciting quarter as we taxed ourselves, our friends, and our family members to support us in holding an amazing Boot Camp that surpased other past boot camps for girls 16 years and above.
This boot camp lasted from August 3 to August 22.
The 2026 Inwelle Study and Resource Centre Academic and Skills Acquisition Bootcamp was a comprehensive educational and skills-development programme designed to equip participants with practical knowledge, digital skills, creative abilities, and life-enhancing competencies.
The Facilitators engaged in the following:
1. Computer Skills
Introduction to Computer Science session, covering basic computer concepts, hardware and software-- configured computer systems and deployed the necessary software and development environments to provide participants with practical and hands on learning experience.
2. Mathematics Education
The Mathematics sessions focused on making mathematical concepts practical, interactive, and relevant to everyday life. Participants were introduced to Number Bases, including different number base systems and conversion exercises. A Number Base Relay Game was also organized to reinforce learning through teamwork and active participation. Participants were also introduced to Statistics, explaining its importance and real life applications, as well as the concepts of data, population, and sample. The Statistics Detective Game provided an engaging way for participants to apply statistical concepts practically.
3. Artificial Intelligence Training
A major component of the training was introducing participants to Artificial Intelligence and its practical applications. Participants learned the fundamentals of AI prompting and effective prompt writing and were guided through hands-on AI image generation. The training was subsequently expanded to AI video generation, where participants learned how to create videos using text prompts and images. Through practical exercises, they explored the use of AI for storytelling, education, and content creation. Participants also developed and refined prompts, created AI-generated videos, and received feedback on improving the quality, creativity, and effectiveness of their work.
4. Content Creation
The content creation sessions focused on helping the campers understand how to communicate ideas effectively through digital platforms. They were introduced to the basics of content planning, identifying a target audience, storytelling, creating engaging content, taking and recording videos with mobile phones, and using social media as a tool for communication and personal or business branding. The campers also had practical exposure to creating content (Podcasts) with the resources available to them, particularly their mobile phones. It can also encourage them to start small businesses based on their skills and gradually grow them. The entrepreneurial mindset will help them become more confident in making decisions, managing resources, taking calculated risks, and creating opportunities for themselves and others.
7. Chemistry Session and making of Household Cleaning Products
Participants were introduced to the fascinating world of chemistry, exploring its major branches and discovering the diverse career opportunities available in the field. From medicine and pharmacy to engineering, environmental science, research, and industry, the session highlighted how chemistry shapes our daily lives and drives innovation. The interactive lesson inspired participants to see chemistry not just as a school subject, but as a gateway to solving real-world problems and building impactful careers in science. The lesson provided participants with a strong foundation for further studies in Chemistry and related STEM fields. Making of Household Cleaning Products was the practical application of the Chemistry session. The session focused on the production of essential household cleaning products, particularly liquid and bar soap and disinfectant. Participants were introduced to the materials, ingredients, equipment, and basic processes involved in producing these everyday products. Through practical demonstrations and hands-on activities, participants learned how to follow the appropriate procedures, measure and combine materials correctly, and produce quality cleaning products for household use. The session also highlighted the entrepreneurial opportunities available in household cleaning products production. Participants learned how these practical skills which can be developed into a small-scale business, providing opportunities for income generation and self-employment. The training was an excellent combination of practical learning, creativity, and entrepreneurship, equipping participants with a valuable skill they can apply at home or develop into a sustainable business venture.
