With gusts of 270 km/h, the tropical cyclone GEZANI devastated several parts of Madagascar, especially the city of Toamasina, where 90% of the house roofs were affected. Food insecurity, unsafe water, and the risk of diseases and MPOX outbreaks have left many families, unwilling to leave their homes for safety reasons, sleeping without a roof. 264,531 people have been affected, with a great need for food, essential supplies, and construction materials.
If the HINA platform provides food, medicine, and essential goods, households affected by disasters with children and women will be more resilient in terms of health and nutrition. Households will be able to focus on home rehabilitation and sanitation. Moreover, the burdens on households during this crisis period will be reduced.
The project plans to support 500 households, comprising at least 2,500 people, with food, medicine, and essential items. Above all, for disaster-affected households with children and women, to provide a minimum of basic needs and human dignity.
