Summary

This project will empower 50 learners with practical, hands-on STEM skills including coding, robotics, digital literacy, and scientific problem-solving. In South Africa, many learners especially those in under-resourced communities lack access to quality STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. With your support, we can equip young people with the tools they need to succeed in a technology-driven future and open pathways to academic and career opportunities.

Challenge

A significant number of South African learners face barriers to STEM learning due to: Limited access to computers, digital tools, and science equipment Inadequate exposure to coding, robotics, and hands-on STEM activities A shortage of trained STEM educators Low levels of digital literacy Minimal career guidance on STEM-related fields These challenges widen the educational gap and leave young people unprepared for a rapidly changing world where STEM skills are essential for economic growth.

Solution

UWSA will deliver a structured STEM development programme to support 50 learners through: Robotics and coding workshops Maths and science tutoring sessions Access to laptops, tablets, and digital learning platforms Hands-on STEM experiments and innovation challenges Career exposure through industry volunteers and guest speakers Mentorship and digital literacy coaching The programme will be implemented in collaboration with local educators to ensure sustainability and curriculum alignment.

Long-Term Impact

Your support creates lasting change by strengthening learners' maths, science, and analytical skills while building digital literacy, coding, and problem-solving abilities. These STEM competencies open doors to bursaries, technical training, and future career opportunities, helping break cycles of poverty. By empowering young people with future-ready skills, the project contributes to South Africa's innovation pipeline, economic growth, and long-term community resilience.
