Thank you so much for your generous support of loveisrespect, a project of the National Domestic Violence Hotline! It’s February, and that means it’s Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM)! loveisrespect is the national lead on TDVAM, and we are excited to have you join us in spreading awareness this month.
Teen dating violence is more common than most people realize. 1 in 3 teens in the U.S. will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse by someone they are in a relationship with before they become adults. TDVAM is a critical opportunity to let people know that teen dating violence can be prevented, and that we must continue this important conversation all year long. This year, loveisrespect’s TDVAM campaign theme is #1Thing. This campaign is focused on small but meaningful and actionable steps that everyone can take to prevent and end abusive relationships.
Here are some ways you can participate in TDVAM:
In 2019, our advocates answered 61,219 calls, chats and texts from young people across the country affected by relationship abuse. Behind each of those conversations is a person who is feeling supported, safer, and empowered because of your support.
Thank you so much for everything you do to create a world where all relationships are positive, healthy and free from violence, this month and every month.
