This project will help us in our attempts to create safe living spaces for rescued dogs. It will make us powerful in our search for wider fields, where dogs can live freely; enable us to meet the costs of dogs' nutrition, vaccinations and medical care. Currently, we have a garden hosting 25 rescued dogs from the municipality shelter where they live in dire conditions with preminent risk of physcial and psyhcological violence. We want to add land to our garden so that we can host more rescues.
In Turkey, currently, we are facing grave challenges in our activities to advocate for the rights of non-human animals in urban sites. The governments holds a campaign to ban all dogs from the streets. The majority of the municipalities do not have shelters, and the existing ones are insufficient in spatial terms with incompetent personnel. There is visual evidence that the dogs are subjected to physical and psychological violence.
We feel it our responsibility to build our own living spaces for the dogs that we rescue from the shelters. We started to work on this idea with our own limited resources, which are mostly personal contributions by the members of the Association, our personal budgets, and some irregular donations by firms, individuals, and corporations. CPA provides care (nutrition, vaccination, love, free space for playing) for rescues.
The project will provide home to 25 rescued dogs with regular health checks, sanitary water and nutritious meals. It will provide them with a liveable garden in which they can move freely.
