The last year has been one of many challenges - as you know, the Cape Town drought had a severe impact on every single person and animal living in the Cape.
Our team of inspectors see the tragic results up close - whether it was the sight of strays dogs in disadvantaged communities desperately looking for a small lick of water, wild animals struggling to survive or the plight of larger farm animals dying from heat stroke and dehydration.
Very often these larger animals, like cows, horses and donkeys would go in search of hydration and find only contaminated water that led to disease, pain and sometimes death.
Even though the drought threat has thankfully reduced compared to this time last year, these vulnerable animals are still in need of our care. It's easy to see a few rains and think these animals are no longer at risk- but sadly this is not the case - water levels are still an issue, especially for those animals living below the poverty line.
Many animals are still living without access to fresh, clean water and communites are in dire need of support to help care for farm animals which do require large supplies of water, along with veterinary treatment if they do fall ill due to contamination.
Your support continues to keep our inspectors on the road and offers relief to so many animals that are simply discarded and neglected because people simply cannot offer the care they require.
We salute you and thank you for being a voice for those that are unable to speak.
Thank you for continuing to support our work and for not forgetting these animals.
