Empower 60 Survivors: Safe Haven at Lotus School

By Geoffrey Mulenga | Project Leader

Thanks to your continued support, the Safe Haven at Lotus School project has continued to provide protection, education, and healing opportunities for survivors of abuse, trafficking, and violence. During this reporting period, we supported 60 vulnerable survivors through counseling sessions, life-skills training, educational support, and safe learning spaces. Our team worked closely with survivors to help them rebuild confidence, strengthen emotional well-being, and develop practical skills that can lead to greater independence and long-term stability.

One inspiring story is that of a young survivor we will call Grace. After experiencing significant trauma and disruption to her education, Grace joined our program with low self-esteem and limited hope for her future. Through regular counseling, mentorship, and participation in vocational training activities, she has gained confidence, improved her school attendance, and begun developing skills that will help her earn an income in the future. Her progress reflects the resilience of many survivors who are determined to create brighter futures despite the challenges they have faced.

In addition to direct survivor support, we conducted community awareness activities focused on child protection, gender-based violence prevention, and the importance of education for vulnerable children. These efforts helped strengthen community engagement and encouraged families and local leaders to play an active role in protecting children and supporting survivors. While challenges such as limited resources and increasing demand for services remain, we continue working to ensure that every survivor receives the care, safety, and opportunities they deserve.

We are deeply grateful for your partnership in this mission. Your generosity is helping create a safe haven where survivors can heal, learn, and regain hope. Together, we are empowering vulnerable individuals to overcome adversity and build lives filled with dignity, purpose, and opportunity.
