Project Report: Empower 60 Survivors: Safe Haven at Lotus School (61088)
Summary of Activities
Since the launch of our “Empower 60 Survivors” project, we have provided a safe and nurturing environment for 35 survivors of gender-based violence and human trafficking. Our safe haven at Lotus School offers comprehensive services, including trauma counseling, skills training, and educational support. Over the past three months, we have conducted five vocational training sessions focusing on tailoring and sustainable agriculture, empowering survivors to build a future of independence and resilience.
Stories of Impact
One of our beneficiaries, Grace (name changed for privacy), arrived at Lotus School after enduring severe abuse. Initially withdrawn and hesitant, Grace has since transformed into a confident young woman. Through our tailoring program, she has mastered the art of dressmaking and is now sewing school uniforms for local children. Grace shared, “I now feel I can stand on my own and provide for myself. This safe haven has given me a new beginning.”
Similarly, Jacob (name changed for privacy), a young survivor of trafficking, has found solace and purpose in our agricultural program. He has not only regained his confidence but is also producing vegetables to support our community feeding initiative. “For the first time, I feel like I am part of something meaningful,” Jacob said.
Achievements and Next Steps
To date, 58% of our target beneficiaries have been enrolled in our programs. Our team is actively working to extend support to an additional 25 survivors. Future plans include introducing digital literacy classes and expanding our safe haven’s capacity to accommodate more survivors. Additionally, we are preparing for an upcoming community awareness event to engage local stakeholders in supporting our mission.
A Call to Action
Our project has achieved remarkable milestones, but the journey is far from over. We are excited to announce a matching campaign in the coming month, where every donation will be doubled. This campaign will help us reach our goal of empowering 60 survivors through education, skills training, and holistic care.
Together, we can empower survivors to reclaim their lives and build brighter futures.
