Dear friends,
WASH-Net teams in Sierra Leone have been able to mobilize comprehensive responses to water supply, sanitation, and hygiene services for more than a year now. At the same time, they have been able to leverage the climate change nexus to maintain and improve health outcomes that benefit the most vulnerable populations.
Simply put, without the unwavering support of our community on GlobalGiving, that job would not be feasible. We especially like to thank all of our supporters. We humbly ask for more monthly donations because they offer consistency and dependability, two qualities that are crucial to any long-term effort to improve the society we operate in.
WASH-Net is able to plan further in advance, spend less time soliciting donations, and allow our objectives to expand further than we would ordinarily be able to achieve thanks to the consistent support of our monthly supporters. In times of crisis, the combined strength of the monthly donations enables our teams to act quickly—before the surge of emergency funds arrives—and continue working for a significant amount of time after the public's focus has shifted.
In conclusion, thank you for your support, whether you have been a monthly donor or member for years, months, or just recently.
We remain grateful,
From the WASH-Net Team
Dear Friends and partners,
Warm greetings from all of us on the frontlines of providing access to essential services to some of society's most vulnerable groups - children in schools and their communities. Over 21% of Sierra Leonean schools lack access to crucial water supply and toilet facilities, making it a significant burden on parents and their kids.
With your support, we have been able to address these problems by starting with one school and a community at a time. Christ The King Evangelical Lutheran Primary School in Bow Bow community, Western Rural District, houses pupils from six other catchment communities. We are 98% of rehabilitation work on a water facility that has failed for the past decade and which collapse resulted in nearby neighborhoods retorting to fetching water from unprotected streams.
Through initial support from The Project Solution, as earlier reported, and with the additional backing from Youth Partnership for Peace and Development, this facility will be completed in the coming weeks to assure safe and clean drinking water once again to the Bow Bow Community.
Please keep us in mind as we continue finding sustainable solutions. Shere, support, and pass on this project within your networks.
Best regards,
Dear friends,
Thank you all for the very generous supports as we introduce one of our newest partners helping us reach out to schools with access to conducive learning spaces through water supply, sanitation and hygiene services. Thank you to The Project Solution who is supporting this move. With this project will build and rehabilitate water supply, toilets and hygiene facilities in the Western urban district of Freetown; providing the enabling environment for children especially the girl child to learn and thrive. The project will provide handwashing kits to three schools, rehabilitation of toilet facilities, water supply storage as well as facilitating training in maintenance capacity of caretakers while reaching a total of 2500 children. $1,700 has so far been transferred to us for the commencement and we look very much to updating you beyond this point.
We are currently in the rains and potentials for an early start is a little slim but we are very sure all delivery interventions will come to fruition in the dries.
Please don't forget to keep sharing and letting the work out on this project and the needed contributions required to fully have it realized.
Warmest regards,
Dear Friends,
We are so grateful that you're still very much with us and the desire to make the most out of this project becoming even stronger. The can be no better way of putting it but to simply say thank you even in this period of global turmoil. A significant update from the field is that apart from the technology choice which we last communicated in the previous report, we have moved a step further to explore the possibility of harnessing borehole drilling options in a way that can enable us to reach as many communities and people as possible.
Your support has been far-reaching and we very much look forward to continuing to impact the lives of communities, schools, and healthcare facilities positively. With these, we will continue breathing life into communities with basic and essential life-saving access to water supply, sanitation, and hygiene services. No support at this point is small and for this reason, we need your continuous support in reaching out with this and with the needed hands so we all can reach this goal. Thank you and thanks to the GlobalGiving Team for the hands-on supports.
Regards,
WASH-Net and Team
Dear friends and partners,
Compliments of the season as we hope you and your families Merry Christmas and a fulfiling New Year to come. What more could we have done without your care and support for the work we do and the very planet that we tirelessly protect.
The project is still very much at its embyonic stages and we need more of your supports both in finances and sharing the project across your families and networks of contacts.
We are thriving and we believe in the coming New Year, much will be achieved together.
Best wishes now and always!
From all of us at WASH-Net Sierra Leone
