Tailoring Training
About the project
A tailoring centre with sewing machine was setup at Don Bosco Veedu manacaud for training the unemployed women from Karimadom colony. About 25 women from the colony enrolled into the training program. The 25 women where divided into two shifts:
Morning Shift- in the morning shift there are 13 women attending the training. This 13 of them are having school going children, so that the timing of 10 AM- 1 PM was prefered by them. Project helped them to choose the timings according to their preference; this strategy was very useful to maintain the regularity of participants attending the training.
Afternoon Shift: The afternoon shift starts from 1 P.M to 4 P.M. There are 12 women attending the training at this time.
Selection of the participants
The participants where selected through the interest analysis conducted among the unemployed women karimadom colony and identified that 50 unemployed women are interested in the tailoring training.
Steps involved in recruiting women into the first batch
The 50 unemployed women from the colony where invited for an open- air meeting at Karimadom colony. Don Bosco director Fr. Thomas P.D interacted with the aspiring candidates. He also discussed about the plan to conduct two batches of tailoring training in the months of December 2018 and February 2019.
Accordingly, they themselves decided on the month of joining the training, and list was prepared.
Execution of the training program
The training program was innagurated by Fr. Thomas P.D (Director, Don Bosco). On the innagural speech, he discussed about the terms and condition followed in the tailoring training class.
