KEEN (Karimadom Education and Empowerment Network) has been initiating different livelihood promotion programs for the poor women of the slum. Though the living standard of the slum is better compaed to other rural slums, savings are meagre and 'saving culture' is lacking among the slum dwellers. The male population is under the influence of drugs and liquer and money does not reach the family and chidlren. Hence the need to empower women.
One of the many initiaitves of the society to improve livelihood has been to create a service team to help at outdoor catering units. A group of 10 people has been trained and provided uniforms and they are already into providing services in the city as there is lots of demand for catering units. Our KEEN team is ready to help serve food, clean a place, arrange chairs, wash dishes, wash table linens etc. The gorup has been a success and they have improved their daily earning and we have devised methods to reduce the loans as well as save some money for the future.
Thanks to your genorosity to help raise the standard of living of some of our beneficiaries!
