100 impoverished widows in 10 drought villages of Kadapa District India lacking livelihood source. This income generating baskets weaving project enables them to get economic self-sufficiency.
The 10 villages of Kadapa District are under the wild grip of drought prone. The work resources are quite limited. Everyday these 100 widows used to go in search of daily work, but they have to return most frequently in a state of disappointment for their inability to find out and obtain sustainable work, because it is very competitive for them to find the work. The project designed to create sustainable livelihood opportunity to 100 poor widows through the bamboo baskets weaving occupation.
We give 7 days training to 100 women in preparing & marketing of bamboo baskets. After training if we provide 100 nos. bamboo sticks & 2 knives worth US$108 to each woman, she able to earn $102 profit per month, sufficient for her family survival
100 rural Indian widow families will be reasonably settled in their lives along with their children hoping their bright future with the livelihood opportunity provided by this project making sustained living through Basket Making occupation.
