Like it or not - we have just got to face it - we are living in a computerized world! Nearly everything we do these days is connected somehow by a computer of some size, shape, or form. We wake up with mini-computers telling us to do so. We eat breakfast with some form of computer cooking our food and preparing our tea or coffee. We jump into our computer-supported cars or e-bikes and go to work where we sit in front of a computer doing our work - or prepare for work. Nearly every profession is dependent on computers. Doctors, lawyers, teachers, architects, technicians - you name it - there's a computer involved somehow. Right at this very moment, you are using one to read this report!
Children growing up in first-world countries could not imagine not having always had one of their own. So how can children growing up in slums like in Nakuru, Kenya ever be able to meet the everyday challenges that they will be faced with latest in university - or at work - if they do not learn how to use computers to the best of their abilities while they are young? It will be impossible to compete with other applicants if they do not know how to sit down at a computer and let these wizard machines work for them.
The Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center in Nakuru has built an IT Workshop. Today, through a very generous donation, both in the funding of the construction of the building and in providing the funds for computers, our computer lab is fully equipped with a computer on every desk for each and every child or youth in class.
We are so thankful to the wonderfully generous people who made this dream a reality.
ASANTE SANA - THANK YOU SO MUCH!
