The socioeconomic crisis that Argentina is going through has worsened profoundly in the last two months, and this is hitting particularly hard in our operating area, the City of Buenos Aires. According to the last National Survey of Homeless People (published in December 2023), there are nearly 8,000 homeless people in Buenos Aires, and it is very likely that this number has increased significantly since then.
Our goal of strengthening the autonomy of homeless women represents a major challenge, as we must develop complementary strategies to enable them to access the support we offer. The reason for this is that they are usually the ones who take care of children and/or the elderly members of the family, which represents a specific difficulty for their permanence in any long-term process.
That is why we look for adequate solutions, such as the creation of a daycare center for children in our headquarters, the coordination with agencies and organizations that accompany them and make their schooling viable, and other support (sometimes financial) that can promote the autonomy of women in a situation of extreme vulnerability.
This will only be possible with your help. Thank you for joining us in this mission, which is as challenging as it is necessary!
