Project Report | Sep 3, 2025
Geography and timeframe of Litokryl's work

By Hanna Karika | Director

The Litokryl project began its work in Kharkiv in 2022 as a space of safety and recovery for children and parents. Over time, it grew into a wide network of permanent and mobile programs that reached several cities and communities across Ukraine. Our goal was to be where children needed psychosocial support the most  in large cities, small communities, and even remote villages.

In each location, we adapted activities to the needs of the community: in some places, these were permanent educational and psychological programs; in others  mobile visits, art therapy workshops, case management, or even providing children with medicines and medical devices. All our programs share a focus on children’s psycho-emotional recovery, support for their parents, and creating a safe space for growth and joy.

Kharkiv (2022  2025 inclusive)  4 700 beneficiaries. Main Litokryl space: permanent activities, individual and group sessions, festive events, educational and speech therapy classes. The first mobile teams also operate here, traveling to communities and remote settlements.

Barvinkove (2023 – July 2025)  1 636 beneficiaries. Mobile teams: art therapy and psychological sessions (individual, group, family). Educational events, case management, support for children with medicines and medical devices.

Khorosheve (2023 – July 2025) – 1 186 beneficiaries. Similar to Barvinkove: mobile visits with art therapy, individual, group, and family psychological sessions, educational programs, case management, and medical support with medicines and devices.

Derhachi (2023 – August 2024) – 1 131 beneficiaries. Mobile programs with art therapy and psycho-emotional support, individual, group, and family consultations. Additionally, online classes for children. The project ended in August 2024.

Kyiv (2023–2025 inclusive) – 6 953 beneficiaries. Programs for internally displaced persons and local children: art therapy, psychological consultations, psycho-emotional support, educational classes, group sessions, activities with parents and children.

Poltava (November 2024 – June 2025) –  2 370 beneficiaries. Short-term support space for displaced and local children: psycho-emotional support, mobile and online activities.

Sloviansk (June – August 2024) – 500 beneficiaries. Summer programs: art therapy activities, children’s events, work with teenagers, psycho-emotional support.

Overall results (2022–2025):

  • 18 476 children and adults received support through Litokryl programs.
  • Over 108 979 attendances at our events, sessions, and workshops.
  • Both permanent spaces and mobile teams were created, enabling us to reach even the most remote communities.

The combination of psychological, educational, therapeutic, and cultural programs made Litokryl a place where children could once again feel like children, and families could find the strength to move forward.
