At the end of the year 2019, at Fundación Bien Humano we have reached an extremely positive result in our Adult Literacy project.
Thanks also to the support of donations, 1751 people could benefit: recyclers, domestic workers, street dwellers and other vulnerable populations.
Carlos, professor of digital literacy of two groups at Fundación Bien Humano, tells us about the importance of empowerment in the technological field and the activities that have been done during the courses:
“The objective with these courses is first of all to reduce the digital divide rates. Many people do not have access to new technologies. This space promotes the relationship with these technologies and the entrance of the students to be part of this digitalizable world, that nowadays governs all the dimensions of society ”Carlos tells us.
In digital literacy classes, beneficiaries have the possibility to train and dignify their own lives and their work, which historically has been undervalued.
In the activities that have been done, not only cognitive and motor skills such as typing and visualizing the pc screen have been developed, human values such as self-confidence and hope in the future have also been strengthened and enhanced.
“The groups are very committed and every day they show their great curiosity in learning. This process has left good results both in the students and in me, I have learned a lot from them as a teacher ”, the professor tells us again.
Within a few months, when the groups fully develop these skills, the objective is to promote writing processes that can give compensation to the labor undervaluation of these communities.
