This project aims to significantly enhance the quality of early childhood education at Addis Hiwot Preschool in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. By addressing critical infrastructure gaps, improving educational materials, and fostering greater parental involvement, we seek to create a nurturing and conducive learning environment for children aged 4 to 6. Investing in quality early childhood education aligns perfectly with the aspirations of SDG 4 and is the foundation for lifelong learning and success.
The ongoing challenges faced by Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) centers in Addis Ababa public kindergartens underscore a critical need for immediate intervention. Overcrowded classrooms, inadequate learning materials, and insufficient sanitation facilities are compromising the educational and developmental outcomes for hundreds of children from low-income families. With targeted support, this project seeks to bridge these gaps, providing a robust foundation for lifelong learning.
This program will provide pre-primary level education to the children of 4 to 6 years old in an innovative way. And the preschool is intended to be model and could be replicated or a show case for replication to other 18 government preschool in KK sub city. By providing a strong foundation during this critical time, we can empower children to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society.
Children will benefit from a safe, stimulating environment fostering: Social and emotional development Life skills Curiosity and love for learning Improved school readiness for future learning To ensure sustainability in the future, the stakeholders' forum from the concerned government organizations such as sub city council, social affairs, education, health, women and children, youth, and NGOs will be established and linked with the project.
