Thanks to your generous donations for giving early education to rag-pickers/daily labourers children, we could collect  USD2841 till date as against target of USD7500. We are confident of raising the balance funds through your generous support and request you to champion our CAUSE, "LightUp Lives - Provide Early Edcn for 75 marginalized children" ;

To speed up the donations for this project, since the academic year has already started, we are having  discussions with a few large HNIs/corporate to fund the shortfall in the project. We are hopeful we shall be able to conclude this discussion favorably in the next 4 weeks since it has become imperative now to complete the said project as soon as possible.

Monthly recurring donations always help smaller projects like that of ours with monthly expense budget for meeting the operational overheads. WE WISH YOU to contribute smaller amounts in recurring monthly donations.

Despite the onset of severe early monsoon rains, we could construct a brand new spacious play school in our existing Child Learning Center “Bal Niketan Vidyalaya”in the slums of Rabale, Navi Mumbai, and readied it early this week for part occupation; Now we can boast of two large spacious rooms, each of approx. 20 x 20 sq ft, instead of a small room used by us in the last 2 years, that accommodated all our tinytots in a single class. Now we can segregate these children in two different age groups of 2-3 years and 4-5 years and engage them separately as per their age group and development.

You would be happy to know that we have introduced for the first time play school uniform, shoes, school bag, tiffin box etc, in a formal way only in this academic year, unlike the last 2 years where funds crunch constrained us to spend the limited resources on mid-day meals/staff salaries etc rather than on upkeep expenses. Thanks to GlobalGiving and donors like you, who stood by us in fulfilling our wishes for these marginalized tiny tots. We would be distributing these items FREE of any charge, wrapped inside a school bag to all these children immediately after the interiors/furniture work going on now.

We are also proud to mention that the senior boys and girls of over 5/6 years age-group from the last academic year, have been successfully placed in Class 1, in a neighboring school in the current academic year.

Freedom For You, is very happy and proud to inform you that we have received the most prestigious Champion Level PLATINUM Seal Certification last week from GUIDESTAR INDIA and this is valid upto March 2018. This signifies ‘adoption of comprehensive Transparency, Acountability, Good Governance procedures by our NGO, with exemplary level of public disclosure’. This is the third consecutive year we have received this certification since inception of these awards by GuideStar India. Only 14 NGOs in India have received this prestigious PLATINUM certification, till date.

In the last report we had informed you all that we were awarded "BEST SOCIAL ORGANIZATION-2017 in Navi Mumbai on May 1, 2017, and in addition we are recipients of two badges from GlobalGiving for distinguished achievement during 2016, namely, GlobalGiving "TOP RANKED" Organization -2016 & GlobalGiving "VETTED" organization – 2016.

These awards/recognitions/certificates etc strengthens our belief in our mission, systems and processes and are a passion-booster to not only our staff but also to all our esteemed stake-holders/ associates, primarily donors like you who have supported our CAUSE.

We are confident of raising the balance funds through your generous support and request you to champion our CAUSE, "LightUp Lives - Provide Early Edcn for 75 marginalized children" ;

Besides WE WISH YOU TOO to JOIN our esteemed list of half-a-dozen regular monthly donors.

Though donations into our project kitty had a tardy progress last quarter, THANKS to GLOBALGIVING timely disbursements every month,  we could place orders with the play equipment vendor to supply couple of playground equipment and school uniform/children shoe suppliers.

We have purposely delayed the delivery & installaion of these play-ground equipment to just about the time the new academic year starts in middle of June 2017, instead of in April2017 when no children would be able to use the same due to summer holidays; Besides the summer has been harsh and severe this year until now;

We had over 63 marginalized children at the end of last academic year, ie, in mid April 2017. Many more are expected to join our play school in the ensuing academic year and our initial survey of the slum area last week gives us a figure of 81 admissions: 45 girls and 36 boys in the age group 2-5 years, beyond our initial target of 75 marginalized children.

We would be introducing for the first time uniforms, shoes, school bags etc, in a formal way in this academic year starting mid June 2017. We would be distributing the same FREE of any charge; Hence we are expecting there would be a surge of admission of tiny-tots in our play school, from many ill-affording parents who are rag-pickers/daily labourers in the neighborhood.

We are aware and prepared to support 85-90 such marginalized children when many of the families, who are mostly nomadic, return by Aug/Sept2017 from their home-towns which are more than 900-1000 kms away. They always expect walk-in admission into our play school even in September, as seen in previous years. Knowing very-well these past trends, we cant refuse admissions to such parents who can ill-afford one square meal per day, let alone education for their child.

We have also helped our senior boys and girls of over 5/6 years age-group to get enrolled successfully in the near by schools in higher classes they belong to as per the govt scheme of 'age-criteria for admissions into different classes'.

Freedom For You, is very happy and proud to inform you that we have been recently awarded "BEST SOCIAL ORGANIZATION-2017 in Navi Mumbai on May 1, 2017 in a grand ceremony in a local auditorium with over 1100 audience, by the jury of Nave Shahar Award Committee; We were awarded a citation, cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a Trophy. A copy of the citation is enclosed for your ready reference.
