LUMD is an innovative program designed to empower 100 adolescents annually with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to navigate the complexities of adolescence and transition into adulthood with confidence. This six-month, in-person course targets adolescents aged 10-19 equipping them with essential skills in health and well-being knowledge, leadership, digital literacy, vocational training, and mental support which are all critical components for building resilience and self-reliance.
Nigeria has one of the highest youth unemployment rates in Africa with 53.4% of young people unemployed/underemployed. Many adolescents lack vocational & digital skills, making it difficult to secure jobs. Also, one in five young people faces mental health challenges,yet access to support is limited. 23% of adolescent girls experience early pregnancy, emphasizing the need for SRHR education. LUMD will equip 100 adolescents with skills to break barriers, build resilience & secure a better future.
