We have been fundraisng for the past year to be able to buy the facilities that we are currently based on and continue providing support to more than 250 children and adults in a community in high social risk in San José, Costa Rica.
The cost of the property was $200.000 and the due date to purchese the property according to the owners was January 31 st 2017. The reason we needed to buy it was beacuse the rent contact ended and the owners did not want to reneue it.
We were able to fund raise $90,000 in two months through different campains, activities, and people who belived in the project. However we were still missing $110,000. Therfore we were able to find a friendly loan at a 5% year rate intrest and WERE ABLE TO BUY THE PROPERTY last week!!!
However, the loan is only for a six moth period, now we have to keep on going and fundraise to be able to pay back the loan by July 2017.
We would love for you to come and visit!

We had time until January 31 (a month ago), and we still had $ 120,000 left, but we managed to get a group of businessmen to lend this to us for six months, so now...THE HOUSE IS OURS!, but we still have to raise that money and get out of debt.
We had an amazing Community Service Day sponsored by Fundación Telefónica on October 21st and wanted to share some pictures with all of you. We transformed our biggest classroom to our new library and now children have a safe and child friendly space to learn to love reading. We constructed the library, painted the walls, and many other interventions. Around 70 people volunteered that friday and was an amazing experience for all of us. They´re actually really happy about it and spend almost all of their time hanging in their new library, looking for interesting books and getting to know a new world.
Argerie is a community leader living in Bajo de los Anonos, the community that Lifting Hands impacts directly. She´s the mother of 3 kids, two students and a little baby. She and her children come to Lifting Hands almost everyday. Her two daughters come to Lifting Hands everyday and receive english classes, dancing classes, cooking classes and more. Since they started as students in Lifting Hands, their school grades got better and now Argerie receives american people at her house as a community leader with selfsteem and dreams of getting her family out of the poverty cycle. They are a testimony of what love can do in a life and how God can give us hope when we need it.
