Today I wanted to share with you a brief update on what we've been able to accomplish for the Central African Republic this year. In January, UNICEF in the Central African Republic received 3,740 boxes of Plumpy'Nut from Edesia's factory in Providence, Rhode Island.
This is enough to potentially treat 3,740 severely malnourished children. It's an incredible, miraculous equation. One box = one life. The 150 sachets inside each red and white box provide enough nourishement to bring a child on the brink of starvation back to good health in about seven weeks.
As you may have seen in the news, the situation in the Central African Republic could not be more dire. We hope that you continue to support the work of Edesia, UNICEF, the World Food Programme, Doctors Without Borders, and other nonprofit organizations who are all working together to bring health, hope, and safety back to this troubled nation.
Raising awarness about the situation is so important, and I thank you in advance for telling your family, friends, and colleagues that the children of CAR are in desperate need of the world's attention.
