Action Against Hunger’s top priority in South Sudan is providing lifesaving treatment for severely malnourished people. And with this campaign, you helped us raise enough to provide lifesaving nutritional treatment for 125 malnourished children.
Your support is critical, as our teams in South Sudan are working tirelessly to provide urgent care to some 770,000 South Sudanese people displaced by recent violence. Action Against Hunger is scaling up nutritional care for 3,000 children who are currently receiving treatment in South Sudan’s Warrap and Northern Bahr el Gazal states. Along with running regular nutrition programs, Action Against Hunger is screening another 2,500 children affected by the conflict for malnutrition. Action Against Hunger is focusing these response efforts in numerous Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.
Amodo Atak Chol* and his family are receiving aid from Action Against Hunger. He shared his experience with us:
“We walked for five days. We faced a lot of challenges… we had nothing to eat on the first two days. We had no clean drinking water. We felt very tired and weak. But we continued to walk until we reached the Man Awan [IDP] camp. When we arrived, the team from Action Against Hunger measured our children’s weight, height and arms and then gave them Plumpy’nut [therapeutic nutrition treatment]. The children who were too sick and couldn’t eat Plumpy’nut were taken to an Action Against Hunger clinic for treatment. We are very happy that Action Against Hunger takes good care of our children in the clinic and here in the camp. They come every day to help us with many other things that we really need. What they’ve been doing in this very difficult situation will never be forgotten by any of us who are here in this camp.”
