Cervical and breast cancer are at epidemic levels across the DRC-yet most women have no access to screenings that could save their lives. The Ida Lee Project is changing this through our Birthday Screening Campaign. Each year, women in Kisangani, DRC are invited to our office on their birthday to receive a free cancer screening. Just $10 provides preventative care for one woman. Early detection is the key to survival. With your support, we can reach our goal of screening 1000 women.
Women in the DRC face an epidemic of reproductive cancers, worsened by limited access to care, delayed treatment, and lack of education on routine screenings. Many women cannot afford medical care, and too often, cancers are detected too late to adequately treat. Early detection saves lives-The Ida Lee Project provides screenings and education to give women a fighting chance.
The Birthday Screening Campaign invites women in the DRC to access free annual cervical and breast cancer screenings, promoting routine reproductive health care. If a screening is positive, The Ida Lee Project's medical team is able to provide immediate treatment, ensuring women are connected to accessible, lifesaving care.
The Ida Lee Project's ultimate goal is to restore dignity to Congolese women who are needlessly suffering. By providing a team of trained Congolese doctors and staff we are able to shift the course of their lives forever. Our vision is to develop a self-sustaining medical and surgical facility operated by local Congolese medical doctors and staff who are educated and trained in all aspects of reproductive cancers, including prevention and treatment, to serve the DRC for many years to come.
